RUSSIA VIOLATING NUCLEAR WEAPONS AGREEMENT

According to the United States, Russia is violating the New START Treaty, which is a nuclear weapons' agreement between the two nations, refusing to allow inspections of its nuclear facilities.

"Russia is not complying with its obligation under the New START Treaty to facilitate inspection activities on its territory," said the United States State Department spokesman.

"Russia's refusal to facilitate inspection activities prevents the United States from exercising important rights under the treaty, and threatens the viability of the United States-Russian nuclear arms control," the spokesman added, while increasing tensions between the United States and Russia.

Back in December, Vladimir Putin, who is the Russian President, warned of the "increasing" threat of nuclear war between Russia and the United States and Europe, while, in January—last month—Dmitry Medvedev, who is the deputy head of Russia's Security Council, threaten that, should Russia lose the war with Ukraine, and-or the United States and Europe, could "provoke the outbreak of a nuclear war."

"Nuclear powers do not lose major conflicts on which their fate depends," Dmitry Medvedev wrote in a Telegram post.

"This should be obvious to anyone, [and] even to a Western politician who has retained at least some trace of intelligence," Dmitry Medvedev added.
